The students of the Lincoln County R-III School District will become the next generation of families, leaders, business owners and residents of our great community. That’s exactly why our District stresses the importance of character education in and out of the classroom. We believe our community will see the benefits of our character education program in the years to come by educating the minds as well as the hearts of our students. By incorporating strategically planned character education lessons, we will compliment and reinforce what’s already being taught outside of our schools.  

The Lincoln County R-III Schools are proud winners of a number of Promising Practices in Character Education Awards.  In addition, Lincoln Elementary is currently a Missouri School of Character as well as a National School of Character. This prestigious award is one not many schools or even districts can claim.

Each month, all of our schools focus on a character education trait and definition. While each character education trait is carefully selected, each campus has the autonomy to decide how to best incorporate the monthly trait into everyday life at their school. The most important part of character education is that we promote a culture, in which our students can learn and grow, that is intentionally inclusive, caring, safe and responsive for our students.  

Our District also hosts a variety of events every year to bring awareness to issues and highlight the importance of good character. In the past, our District has hosted Anti-Bullying Week and the Parade of Schools.  Both are great events that highlight the importance of having great character.

Our District also teams up, semi-annually, with our three local food pantries to keep food on the shelves by hosting a fall and spring food drives. In February of 2011, the Lincoln County R-III School District also launched the Buddy Bag program in response to insufficient food supplies in the homes of some of our students.
