Fuller Middle School Construction FAQs

When is construction starting?
Construction began June 24, 2019.  The new parking lot behind the Farley Building, the temporary bus drive, parent drop-off/pick-up drive and teacher/staff parking lot in front of the current Fuller school and the parent drop-off/pick-up drive and teacher/staff parking lot on the east side of the McCarthy school have all been completed, and the work on the new school has begun.  

Will ongoing use of the current Fuller Middle School be impacted during construction of the project? 
The existing Fuller School will be fully functional during construction.  Construction activity will be phased and separated from the day-to-day functions of the current Fuller school to ensure safety and to limit disruption to the educational process. A fenced-off construction zone with a dedicated construction vehicle access will be monitored for safety and dust control. The construction area will be separated from both Fuller and Farley classroom areas by the non-classroom spaces in each building such as gymnasiums, cafeteria and auditorium.  

When will construction be completed?
Construction of the new Fuller Middle School building will be completed in the summer of 2021.  The new school will be operational for the start of the 2021/2022 academic year. Demolition of the current Fuller building will commence summer 2021, followed by the construction of the parking lot and playfields by late 2021.  

Where will the bus drop-off and pick-up zone be located for the current Fuller Middle School while the new Fuller Middle School is under construction?
The bus drop-off and pick-up zone for the current Fuller Middle School will be located directly in front of the current Fuller school. 

Where will the bus drop-off and pick-up zone be located for the McCarthy Elementary School while the new Fuller Middle School is under construction?
The bus drop-off and pick-up zone for the McCarthy Elementary School remains unchanged, located on the north side of the McCarthy school. 

Where will the parent drop-off and pick-up zone be located for the current Fuller Middle School while the new Fuller Middle School is under construction?
The parent drop-off and pick-up zone for the current Fuller Middle School will be located off of Flagg Drive, in front of the current Fuller school. 

Where will the parent drop-off and pick-up zone be located for the McCarthy Elementary School while the new Fuller Middle School is under construction?
The parent drop-off and pick-up zone for the McCarthy Elementary School is being re-located to the east of the current McCarthy school.  This re-location provides for a separate drive for the busses and a separate drive for the parents.  Additionally, the on-site queue length for parent vehicles has been increased to assist in reducing backup onto Flagg Drive.  

Is there a preferred travel route for the Fuller Middle School parents to get to the current Fuller Middle School during construction?
The preferred travel route for parents dropping off or picking up students at the current Fuller Middle School is to approach the Fuller school heading westbound on Flagg Drive, so the Fuller school is on your right.

Is there a preferred travel route for the McCarthy Elementary School parents to get to the McCarthy Elementary School during construction? 
The preferred travel route for parents dropping off or picking up students at the McCarthy Elementary School is to approach the McCarthy school heading eastbound on Flagg Drive, so the McCarthy school is on your right. 

Where will the Fuller Middle School teachers and staff park during construction?
The Fuller Middle School teachers and staff will park in the temporary teacher/staff parking lot located in front of the Fuller school. 

Where will the McCarthy Elementary School teachers and staff park during construction?
The McCarthy Elementary School teachers and staff will continue to park in the existing parking lot located on the north side of the McCarthy school and some will park in the new teacher/staff parking lot located on the east side of the McCarthy school. 

Will the contractor be allowed to drive through the Warren-Oaks-Flagg neighborhoods? 
There will be no contractor vehicles allowed to drive thru the Warren-Oaks-Flagg neighborhoods. 

Will there be times that the contractor will not be allowed to travel to or from the construction site? 
No contractor vehicles will be allowed to travel to or from the construction site between the times of 7:45 - 8:45am and 2:00-3:00pm while school is in session. 

Will there be times that the contractor will not be allowed to travel to or from the construction site? 
Between September 23, 2019 and October 28, 2019, no contractor vehicles will be allowed to travel to or from the construction site between the times of 7:45 - 8:15am and 2:00-2:45pm while school is in session. Before or after this period, no contractor vehicles will be allowed to travel to or from the construction site between the times of 7:45 - 8:45am and 2:00-3:00pm while school is in session.
