Just less than six months ago, the majority of Framingham’s voters who visited the polls supported a debt exclusion, allowing Framingham to utilize $39.5 million in state funding provided by the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to build a new Fuller Middle School.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony featured remarks from Mayor of Framingham Dr. Yvonne Spicer; Superintendent of the Framingham Public Schools Dr. Robert Tremblay; David Fuller, of the Fuller Family; State Senate President Karen Spilka; State Treasurer and MSBA Board Chair, Deborah Goldberg; Executive Director of the MSBA Jack McCarthy; Maliz Yemo and Honesty Perez, current McCarthy Elementary School Students; and School Building Committee Co-Chair David Miles.

“This groundbreaking event is symbolic of our City’s commitment to educational excellence for every child in Framingham and marks the beginning of a new era in how we educate children in our community,” said Superintendent, Dr. Robert Tremblay. “Celebrating student learning with highly visible instructional spaces and framed by an instruction model where our students construct greater meaning from their learning by connecting content that has typically been taught as separate subjects is a breakthrough for Framingham. Project- and problem-based teaching and learning will prepare our students for a stronger high school and post-secondary experience than ever before. Preparing our students for the rest of their lives has never been more exciting than right now!”

“This is a place where our children will have the tools to realize their dreams and potential, and the focus will be on enhancing STEAM education through rich content and innovative hands-on and minds-on activities,” said Dr. Yvonne M. Spicer, Mayor of Framingham. “The new school will be a game changer in how we educate children and will make Framingham more appealing for families for decades to come.”

“We were thrilled to be at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fuller Middle School where our team will focus on building one of the most innovative and sustainable middle schools in the region,” said Anthony Consigli, CEO of Consigli Construction Co., Inc. “This cutting-edge school will be a pillar of STEAM learning and foster the curiosity of students throughout the Framingham community for years to come.”
