The Fairport Central School District is proud to announce that the Board of Education passed a resolution at its August Business meeting to call for a public vote on October 12, 2023, to consider two Propositions as part of the Fairport for the Future Capital Improvement Project.
The Board of Education and the District have worked closely with stakeholders within the community and the District to develop these two Propositions and to bring the community together around this project. All Fairport and Perinton residents are invited to cast their votes on October 12 at Johanna Perrin Middle School.

On October 12, voters have the choice to vote either “yes” or “no” on both Proposition 1 and Proposition 2.
The enactment of Proposition 2 (track and field renovations) is dependent on the passage of Proposition 1 (updating Fairport High School). If Proposition 1 is not passed, Proposition 2 will not be enacted, regardless of the Proposition 2 vote result. If Proposition 1 passes, as does Proposition 2, both will be enacted.
Details on the two Propositions in the Fairport for the Future Capital Improvement Project are as follows:
Proposition 1 has no tax impact with use of our existing Capital Building Reserves. Fairport for the Future will update and modernize facilities and spaces in Fairport High School to comfortably absorb ninth grade and support Fairport’s programming. Many learning environments at Fairport High School, including technology and library spaces, are outdated and no longer serve the needs of Fairport’s students, staff and programming.
The scope of Proposition 1 includes:
- FHS Building Addition
- 5 STEM spaces (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
- Robotics, wood shop, A.V. studio, maker spaces, technology that can be used by art classes, tech classes, science classes like NASA HUNCH and architecture
- 5 STEM spaces (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
- +3 core classrooms and renovated library
- Student-centered library with more open, usable, flexible space, maintaining a robust book and resource collection
- +2 Health/PE/Athletic administrator spaces
- +Special education-related service spaces
- Occupational therapy/physical therapy
- Additional collaboration spaces
- Additional parking and improvements (±136 additional parking spaces, includes increased accessible parking)
- Relocated and updated tennis courts
- Reconstruction of spaces in Martha Brown into administrative areas so Baumer Place staff can relocate before the sale of the B.P. property
Proposition 2 has a tax impact of $39/year per $200k home value after use of existing Capital Building Reserves. The FHS track and field would be updated to create a first-rate facility for practice, competition and community use.
The scope of Proposition 2 includes:
- Eight lane track
- Grandstand (+ or – 800 capacity)
- Pressbox
- Scoreboard with PA system
- High jump
- Steeplechase
- Pole vault (2)
- Long jump/triple jump (2)
- Shot put (2)
- Discus (2)
- Storage building
