The Fairport Central School District is proud to recognize Fairport High School student Shane Kuo, who has been named a semi-finalist in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Competition!
Students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in 11th grade. Over 1.5 million students enter the program this way every year, and the students with the highest scores in each state are designated as semi-finalists. These students make up less than one percent of the state’s graduating seniors.
Kuo is now eligible to compete for close to 7,500 National Merit Scholarships, which are worth nearly $30 million.
The District is also proud to commend those Fairport High School Students who were recently named “Commended Students” in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students earned commendation for their performance on the 2021 PSAT/NMSQT. Each student scored above the 95th percentile on the exam.
