An institution in the Fairport Central School District Music department – and a fixture in the Rochester music scene – was honored by the Eastman School of Music as part of its “Centennial Awards” celebration! Fairport High School music teacher and band director Bill Tiberio was named one of the Eastman School’s 100 recipients of the Centennial Award. From the Eastman School website:
“In honor of its centennial year, Eastman created the Centennial Award to recognize 100 individuals who exemplify Eastman’s mission and legacy through their commitment to artistry, scholarship, leadership, community engagement, and/or philanthropy.”
In addition to serving for decades in Fairport High School’s music program, Tiberio is a long-time faculty member at the Eastman Community Music School, the Eastman School’s educational arm that serves students of every age and skill level, along with small ensembles and groups. He is director of bands and jazz ensembles at University of Rochester, and is on the jazz faculty at Ithaca College and SUNY Geneseo.
Congratulations to Mr. Tiberio for this outstanding recognition!
