Dear Fairport Community:
Next week, we will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week! Our theme this year is CARE Leaves a Legacy!
This milestone is a testament to our focus on the enduring principles of CARE, in which we all want to be treated with Civility, Awareness, Respect, and be Embraced.
Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week raises awareness of differences and connects young people to others around them. We should all feel connected enough to care for each other. Our students are integral to creating a respectful, caring community.
Throughout next week, students will model the CARE values by participating in intergenerational activities, for example during Family Outreach Day. Your child will have the opportunity to interact with a big brother or big sister from Fairport High School or Minerva DeLand. These big brothers and sisters will virtually meet throughout the week with elementary classrooms to demonstrate these values. Middle school students will also be participating in activities.
We are passionate about taking the experiences of our students beyond the academic realm so they connect with others and contribute to an ever-changing and diverse society.
I encourage you to talk with your child(ren) about their Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week experiences. Ask about the activities they participate in and discuss ways your child(ren) can apply what they learn in their daily lives.
We are all better together. Thank you for sharing your children with us.
Sincerely,
Brett Provenzano
Superintendent of Schools
