Fairport Central School District invites you to be a part of shaping the future of the district. The Whole Child Community Conversation will take place on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Fairport High School Room 512. This event will help the district define 21st-century learning in the schools and how it will impact students’ futures. The event will include a keynote speaker, expert panel and group discussions.
The community event will explore the whole child approach to education and dive into the district’s educational programming strategic initiative. The discussion will include a myriad of perspectives on the essential skills and dispositions of tomorrow’s citizens and workforce. With these needs in mind, FCSD will explore the impacts on teaching, learning, and programming.
“We are facing unprecedented change – social, economic and environmental – driven by accelerating globalization and a faster rate of technological developments,” said Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Kerstin Wheeler. “We cannot predict the future, but we need to prepare our students for it. Children entering education in 2018 will be young adults in 2030. Our charge as educators is to prepare them for careers that have not yet been imagined, for technologies that have not yet been invented and to solve problems that have not yet been envisioned.”
Dr. Robert Dillon will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. He is an educational leader with a passion for cultivating engagement at all educational levels.
Dr. Dillon’s address will be followed by a panel discussion. The panel will include:
– Jim Bilotta, Branch Manager, Lyons National Bank and President, Fairport Chamber of Commerce
– Dr. Robert Dillon, University City School District (MO)
– Keith Greer, LCSW, Executive and Recovery Coach, Speaker, Trainer
– Cathy Hauber, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Programs, Monroe One BOCES
