Students and staff at Fairport’s Jefferson Avenue Elementary School spent Nov. 9 honoring the men and women who have served the United States during its Veterans Day – Take-A-Vet-To-School Day – activities.

Students welcomed veterans to a morning celebration with the entire school honoring the veterans in attendance. Students performed musical tributes and read letters, poems in appreciation of the veterans.

The Perinton Memorial VFW Post 8495 performed a flag ceremony. Students also gave homemade cards and treats of appreciation to the veterans.
