Fairport Central School District

Dear Fairport Families:

It’s been a great start to the new school year as we conclude the shortened week! Students and staff are reconnecting and seamlessly transitioning back to school.

I would like to acknowledge the efforts of our Buildings & Grounds team who have diligently prepared our facilities for the opening of school, especially with the Capital Project construction that is occurring.

The social-emotional needs of our children remain the priority in all of our schools. We strive to create experiences where students feel connected to their school environments and have equal access to hallmark experiences. We offer many after school activities that are designed to meet their interests and keep students connected to our schools – to complement their academic experience, please encourage your child(ren) to take advantage of our extra curricular activities. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, Oct. 26 (for parents of children in grades 7-12) or Thursday, Nov. 2 (for parents of children in grades 4-6) for a parent meeting on Youth Risk Behavior. The information that we will be sharing has great implications for our children; it is mandatory information that all parents can use for parenting their children!

As we start the new year, future planning initiatives will be at the forefront as we develop a comprehensive educational, fiscal and facility plan that will address the needs of our students and the priorities of our community. We have developed purpose statements that will guide our future planning endeavors around educational programming, fiscal sustainability, and facilities planning.

We welcome and value your partnership. It is vital to the success of your children. There will be opportunities for community feedback and questions as we engage in this planning process. If you are interested in participating on a District Advisory Council that focuses on future planning please complete the following form by September 30: fairport.org/communityplanning.

As you approach the new year, please remember, you are decisive factors in your child’s life.  Your children benefit from conversations where you establish expectations both academically and socially. When it comes to their studies remind them to strive for excellence and not perfection, as well as to have high expectations for their performance in class. Relative to their peer relationships, please reiterate the core values of Brotherhood-Sisterhood that we embrace in all of our schools. That is, be CivilAwareRespectful and Embrace differences toward all individuals.

I hope students have enjoyed the first week of school, and that they will discover success and the joy that our schools have to offer.

Sincerely,

Brett Provenzano
