Ms. Katie Hunter

Welcome to AIG!  I am excited to be serving AIG students at R. Brown STEM Elementary School(Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) and Cox Mill Elementary School (Monday and Wednesday). My goal is to challenge your students - stretching their brains, understanding and meeting social emotional needs, and helping them see how their gifts can help change the world!

This is my 17th year teaching, and I am excited to join the R. Brown family, a school my father attended in elementary school!

Growing up, I had the opportunity to live in many different places thanks to my father’s career in the Army.  I was born in Germany and from there have lived in Kentucky – twice, Virginia, and North Carolina –twice.  Once my father retired we came to Concord since this is where he was born and raised.  It was a good thing, because you can’t get Sundrop and good BBQ just anywhere!

I graduated from Northwest Cabarrus High School, here in Concord, and then went to UNCC where I received my degrees in Elementary Education and English.  I then went back and completed my Masters of Education in Reading Instruction from UNCC.

When not teaching, you can find me snuggling with my dog, Oliver, and reading - I LOVE to read! I also enjoy music, various arts and crafts, and playing with my adorable nephews, Hudson and William.

I am here for to support you and your child, so please feel free to contact me about anything!   I look forward to a great school year working together with you and your children!
