Dear Students and Families,  

My name is Elliott Young! I’m so excited to be at Hickory Ridge. This is my 3rd year here at The Ridge. In the past, I have taught World History, American History I and II, Current Events, & Civics and Economics. This year, I will be teaching primarily World History. One of my biggest passions is teaching history. This provides students with better decision-making skills, a better understanding of societal changes and patterns, and a clearer sense of how the world operates and why it chooses to do so. Another aspect of teaching that I love is building relationships with students. Watching students grow throughout their high school career is the most rewarding part of my career!

I grew up in Cabarrus County and graduated from this awesome school district. I loved it so much, I knew that I wanted to come back and teach! I graduated from UNC-Charlotte, which is where I studied history and secondary education. During my time at UNCC, I was named the 2020 Student Teacher of the Year by UNC-Charlotte’s College of Education. When I’m not at school, you can find me hanging out with family and friends, always drinking coffee, or running at a local park.
