Daily Homework Requirements

Students should be reading most nights of the week to build reading interest and stamina.  Each student will set a reading goal each quarter and then record information from the book being read on a bookmark/reading log.  Once the bookmark/reading log is completed and submitted to me, I will give credit towards the reading goal.  We will conference as needed to make reading adjustments to help students achieve their goal.  Students will also be expected to check books out from the media center when we visit several times a month if students do not have books to bring from home.  Each quarter, students will complete a reflection on their progress from the previous quarter before setting a new reading goal to analyze and evaluate strengths and weaknesses for achieving the goal they have set for themselves.  Students who achieve their quarterly reading goal will attend a reading celebration to recognize their achievements. 

Students are expected to complete at least 45 minutes of iReady work each week.   Students may have time occasionally to work on iReady in classes or during study hall on Tuesday mornings during extended homeroom.  However, most of the work will need to be completed at home.

Students will have vocabulary units to complete.  Each of the assignments should be completed to practice using the words and roots/stems/prefixes to build vocabulary knowledge to improve reading skills.  Something from each unit will be graded although not every assignment will be graded.  Each unit will culminate with a cumulative review of all vocabulary information covered to date.

Students should also complete any work for homework that may have not been completed during class.  If a student is absent, make-up work should also be completed for homework.  Information for assignments is available in Canvas.  

CANVAS-  When students miss class, they should check for assignments in Canvas.  Students should be prepared to ask for any missing materials upon returning to class.  Please remember- students have 7 days to complete missing work once grades are entered/posted in PowerSchool.  After the 7 days, credit may not be given and the zero in PowerSchool will remain.
