As your child’s 1st grade teacher I feel that it is extremely important to keep an open communications system throughout the year.  Please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss questions or concerns that you have about your child.

Homework

For the first month of school your child will need to read 15-20 minutes each night.  It is critical that students read each night to support their reading growth and development. Please write the date, title of the book, and initial the monthly reading log that will stay in the blue communication folder. 

Birthday Celebrations

Your child is very special and we invite you to celebrate your child’s birthday at school if you wish. Due to allergies, no food items are allowed for celebration. You may send in non-food items.

Classroom Technology

Each student in class will have an ipad assigned to them. We will be utilizing technology on a daily basis to reinforce and extend learning.  Please send in headphones/earbuds with your child as soon as possible. Additionally, a yellow computer compact sheet was sent home with your child.  In order for your child to use their assigned device we must have this paper returned signed by both parent and student.
