Ms. Briana Dowd

Hello Beacons! My name is Briana Dowd and I am delighted to begin my second year as a first grade teacher at Charles E. Boger! 

 

I was born in a small town in Central New York but spent most of my life living in Northern Virginia, about 45 minutes from Washington, DC. In 2018, I graduated from West Virginia University with a B.A. in Psychology. During my time at WVU, I interned in a Head Start Pre-K classroom, where I worked to foster school readiness in four-year-old students.  Following graduation, I worked as a preschool teacher, which is when I decided I wanted to pursue a career in elementary education. In December 2021, I received my Graduate Certificate in Teaching Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and am now working towards obtaining my Master of Arts in Teaching. 

 

In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym; watching movies; trying new foods and restaurants; and spending time with my friends, family, and Golden Retriever named Sadie.
