    Remote Learning Day Plans - In case of inclement weather and students have a remote learning day, their assignments are below.
     
    READING - Choose a fiction or nonfiction book to read and answer three questions on the fiction or nonfiction choice board.
    MATH - Choose three activities to do on the math choice board.

    MULTIPLICATION PRACTICE

    What are we learning!!!!! 

    Reading - We will learn reading habits that good readers need to have.  We will work on making inferences, summarizing, determining the theme, analyzing how parts of the story are put together, compare and contrast settings, characters, and events.  We will also learn how to determine the meaning of unknown words by using context clues, find the main idea and supporting details, and analyzing text structures.

    Math - We will begin the year learning about the coordinate grid and how to graph points in the first quadrant.  We will also learn how to create and analyze categorical and numerical line graphs.  Finally, we will learn how to create and analyze number patterns to create a line graph or graph points on a coordinate grid.

    Science -  Our first unit we will learn about unicellular and multicellular organisms.  We will also learn about 6 of the human body systems.  We will learn about the Skeletal system, Muscular system, Respiratory system, Circulatory/Cardiovascular system, Digestive system, and Nervous system.  We will learn the parts of each system, the purpose of each system and how they all work together.

    Social Studies - We will begin the year learning about pre-colonization and the 13 colonies.

     

     

      
    Some of the Responsibilities of 5th graders are:
    1. Independence - We will earn that 5th graders are responsible for coming to class prepared, staying on task at school, and going home prepared.
    2. Organization - Students will learn that organization influences independence and success.  Students will use their agenda to help them be prepared for school.
    3. Nightly Homework - Students will have nightly homework.  They will need to study his/her math and science notebook and read.  
    4. Study - We will also promote studying. (Reading through his/her math notebook and science notebook nightly).  This skill is important to instill for success in middle school, high school, and college.

Mrs. Taylor

This is my 17th year teaching in Cabarrus County.  I taught at Winecoff for 9 years.  I taught first grade for 7 years, second grade for 1 year, 3rd grade for 3 years, 5th grade for 5 years. This year, I am excited to be teaching fifth grade again!  I am from Concord, born and raised. I graduated from Concord High School, attended Appalachian State University and I earned my National Board Teaching License in 2010, and renewed my National Board License in 2019.  I have a wonderful husband and 2 kids, a son, who is in sixth grade at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School and a daughter, who is in fourth grade at Boger.  
 
Teaching is my passion and I am excited to see your children grow and learn academically and socially!  I am also excited to learn from them!
