School Counseling

  • The school counseling program is an integral part of K-12 students' daily educational environment.  CCS counseling programs at the elementary, middle and high school levels are comprehensive in scope, preventive in design, and developmental in nature.  School counseling programs promote the learning process all students and are driven by student data.  School counseling programs encompass standards in three areas: cognitive, career, and socio-emotional development.
     
    School counselors are employed at elementary, middle and high schools. The counselors have master's degrees (48-60 hours) in counseling and are licensed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.  In addition to state licensing, some school counselors have achieved certification and licensing as-
     
    *Nationally Certified Counselors
    *Nationally Board Certified  (NBPTS)
    *Licensed Professional Counselors
