Employees whose regular assignment is 20 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll in a variety of voluntary benefits. Voluntary benefits are employee-paid and for some plans, enrollees have the option to elect deductions on a pre-tax basis. Please note that if you elect to have your premium deducted on a pre-tax basis, you will be unable to drop the plan until Open Enrollment.
American Fidelity provides employees with the following voluntary benefit option(s):
Flexible Spending Account: Lets you set aside money on a pre-tax basis to be used for eligible medical, dental, and vision expenses – reducing your taxable income. Funds can only be used to pay for expenses incurred within the plan year, and there are some exclusions. Employees must enroll in this benefit each year.
Dependent Daycare Account: Lets you set aside money on a pre-tax basis to be used for eligible daycare expenses - reducing your taxable income. Funds can only be used to pay for expenses incurred within the plan year, and there are some exclusions. Employees must re-enroll in this benefit each year.
Supplemental Life Insurance: Supplement your District-paid life insurance with a supplemental policy. Options include Term Life, Whole Life, and Texas Life. Term Life covers you for a set period of time and the rate you pay will not change during that period. Whole Life covers you until age 121 and the rate you pay will not change during the life of the policy. Whole Life builds cash value that you can borrow against. Texas Life provides coverage for your entire life and has a guaranteed death benefit to age 121.
Disability Insurance: American Fidelity has policies that can supplement your District-paid Disability Insurance. Disability Insurance helps replace lost wages when you can't be at work due to an illness or injury, and some policies may contain additional benefits.
Cancer Insurance: Pays financial benefits directly to you in the event you are diagnosed with and begin treatment for cancer.
Critical Illness Insurance: Pays financial benefits directly to you in the event you experience a critical illness such as heart attack or stroke.
Accident Insurance: Pays financial benefits directly to you in the event you are injured as the result of an accident.
MetLife provides employees with the following voluntary benefit option(s):
MetLife Legal Insurance: Provides enrollees access to attorneys with for consultations and assistance for a variety of issues, including home and real estate, estate planning, traffic ticket defense, etc.
MetLife Supplemental Life Insurnace: Supplement your District-paid life insurance with a supplemental policy. Coverage is also available for spouses and dependent children.
MetLife Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D): Provides benefits payable upon death due to accident (in addition to any life insurance policies) as well as accidental dismemberment not resulting in death. Coverage is also available for spouses and dependent children. Benefits are not payable if the death or dismemberment is not caused by an accident.
Reep provides Management employees with the following voluntary benefit option(s):
ID Theft Protector: Provides credit monitoring services as well coverage in the event your identity is stolen.
Colonial Hospital Insurance: Helps cover out of pocket expenses when employees are admitted to the hospital for a covered illness or injury.
The Standard provides Certificated employee’s with voluntary benefit option(s):
Disability Insurance: The Standard has policies that can supplement your District-paid Disability Insurance. Disability Insurance helps replace lost wages when you can't be at work due to an illness or injury, and some policies may contain additional benefits.
