Melissa Barry
My name is Mrs. Barry and this is my second year at Sage Creek High School and my 18th year in education. I started my journey in Phillipsburg, New Jersey where I taught high school journalism. I have always had a passion for writing. When I was a senior in high school, I worked at my local newspaper writing obituaries. I relocated to California in 2006 where I taught English at Sanger High School and coached Speech and Debate. My passion for writing and speech and debate grew, and I took a position as the Speech and Debate Director at San Dieguito Academy. Prior to Sage Creek, I was an English teacher, English Department Chair, ASB Director and Administrator at Guajome Park Academy. I teach English 2 and Yearbook. I am also the Link Crew Coordinator.
Both my children attend schools at Carlsbad Unified, and I knew one day I would work for Sage Creek High School. I am so excited to finally be a Bobcat! My goals for my students this year is to increase their love for reading and writing and help develop their voice. I am passionate about preparing students for the jobs that have not been created yet. I love to travel. I have been all over the world. In my free time, you can find me at the beach or at Disneyland. I am a HUGE Disney fan. My daughter and I love to attend Dapper Days and you can find us hanging out on main street.
