PCHS Class of 2023 Senior Spotlight: Chase Simmons
🥳Senior Spotlight Time!
👨🎓Help us congratulate Class of 2023 PCHS Senior, Chase Simmons!
🤍Chase is the son of Charlie and Kris Simmons.
💙Chase's favorite quote: "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Psalm 23
🤍Chase has been active in the following clubs and activities: I have been a part of Varsity Football, FFA, Area 3 FFA, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, and a class officer for three years. I was lucky enough to be a team captain on the football team. As a freshman in FFA, I was the assistant Vice-President, and the Star Chapter Greenhand, the Creed Speaker, and a member of the dairy cattle team. As a sophomore, I served as the Chaplain and went to Districts on a Livestock judging team. As a junior, I served as the 1st Vice-President and won my State FFA Degree, and went to state for the Forestry college. This year as a senior I am serving as the chapter president and competing on a Livestock judging team. I'm also serving as the Area 3 FFA 1st Vice-President. As a class officer, I have served as the Treasurer, Vice-President, and President.
💙We asked Chase what his advice would be for incoming freshmen. He said, "Time flies so take in every moment and be committed to the things you are involved in, it makes them a lot more enjoyable. Have fun!"
😂Chase's funniest memory from high school...too many to share without getting himself or others in a little bit of trouble.
💙Chase's post-graduation plans: "After graduating from Putnam County I plan to work all summer at MFA, on our family farm, and with the show calves I am going to sell in the fall. Then this fall I am going to attend State Technical College of Missouri, majoring in Electrical Distribution Systems which is the lineman program. Upon completion of that program, I will graduate State Tech with my associate's degree and come back to Putnam County to pursue a career at a local electric co-op. I want to try for a more local job so that I can stay close to our family's century farm and still manage most of the day-to-day operations. In 5-10 years I see myself married, raising and selling show calves, farming as much as I can, and working at a local electric co-op."
🤍We asked Chase what his favorite class was at Putnam. He told us, "My favorite class at Putnam would have to be Ag Construction. I have always enjoyed running the machinery and learning about it along the way, especially the welders."
💙Chase's most memorable moment: "I think every moment I have had at Putnam has been memorable but anything related to playing football, singing every word to Baby Got Back, or getting a five-and-a-half-month summer is close to the top for me."
💙We asked Chase what teacher or staff member at Putnam has had the biggest impact on him and why. He said, "All of the teachers and staff at Putnam had a big impact on me and always helped me with anything I asked. Whether that's asking Mr. Fleshman for help with math or Mrs. Cowles helping me with FFA and Ag Class or just Mr. Watt and Mr. Elson simply greeting me in the hallway and asking how my day has been. All of the football coaches have also had a big impact on me by believing in me and always pushing me to be a better me."
Congratulations, Chase! We are #PutnamProud of you! #pchsclassof2023 #PutnamProud
