Our primary goal is to create a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff. With this goal in mind, the Pasadena Independent School District implemented a three tiered plan that we feel will greatly assist us in this goal.

Our first system, implemented in 2015 was the A.L.I.C.E. program.

The Pasadena Independent School District Police Department A.L.I.C.E. Training Staff are available for Active Shooter presentations. A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym for a  school-based, active shooter response program developed to train school staff members as well as K-12 level students.  If you would like to speak with a member of our training staff you are encouraged to speak with;

Our second protocol to assist us on our mission of safety is the Anonymous Alerts program. Anonymous Alerts is a web and cell phone application-based program that allows students, staff, family members, and concerned citizens to provide information on potential security threats and concerns to our district and department investigators while remaining anonymous.

Anonymous Alerts, along with our District's initiative motto of "See Something, Say Something", has provided countless tips to investigators, allowing potential threats to be investigated and arrests to be made before violence occurs at our campuses.

Our third program, began in 1999 and is our most vital element to the safety and security of our students and staff, our Emergency Response Team. Shortly BEFORE the attack on Columbine High School, preparations were made to create an Emergency Response Team requiring all our police officers to participate and receive monthly training on how to respond to an Active Shooter Event quickly and effectively. 

In 2005, The ALERRT curriculum was added to the Emergency Response Team training program and was easily integrated within the policies and procedures already in place to deal with Active Shooters events. 

The Pasadena Independent School District Police Department's Emergency Response Team utilizes and trains all PISDPD Police Officers. We believe every officer may potential respond to an active shooter event and make a difference. Therefor all our officers should be trained and capable to handle such events.

The PISDPD ERT program has evolved greatly from it's original concept and continues to evaluate and incorporate applicable training models to make officer's response; quick and efficient in order to save the lives of our students, and staff members.
