For the 16th consecutive year, Pasadena ISD has been named “One of the Best Communities for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.
The title is awarded to districts with an outstanding commitment to music education.
"I am excited and proud for our music teachers and our district in receiving this honor for the sixteenth year in a row. Music connects us to each other and prepares us for the world. I know the past few years have added a lot of stress to our students, teachers, and community. (Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.) When we were finally able to perform our music and share it with others, it moved our community and me to tears," said Linda Fletcher, Director of Fine Arts for Pasadena ISD.
Pasadena ISD is among only 738 distinguished school districts in the nation.
“Our music teachers positively affect our students and community emotionally and socially. Our teachers inspire, raise engagement, give specific feedback, teach through groups and hands-on work because they know that involving our students is a way of life. One of my favorite quotes is from Zoltan Kodaly, “With music, one’s whole future life is brightened. This is such a treasure in life that it helps us over many troubles and difficulties. Music is nourishment, a comforting elixir. Music multiplies all that is beautiful and of value in life.”
Thank you to our music educators, administrators, students and community members for your dedication to providing high-quality music education for all students; without your tireless efforts, achievements like this one would not be possible.
