The summer is just getting started and so is Pasadena ISD’s Intermediate Summer Challenge, June 8-August 3.
The challenge, created for seventh and eighth grade students, is designed to help keep students engaged and prevent the dreaded summer slide by focusing on creativity and academics, along with mental and physical wellness.
“We really want to make sure students stay engaged and active this summer,” said Jonette Douglas, Assistant Principal at Queens Intermediate. “All of these activities are created to promote academic enrichment, physical fitness and mental wellness. The idea was to meet the needs of our students using a whole child approach.”
Participants in the challenge will have the opportunity to virtually participate in Zumba, math-based cooking classes, art museum tours and much more. Students who compete in the challenge can earn prizes based on the number of activities they complete. To be eligible for the prizes, all activities must be completed and submitted by the last day of the challenge, August 3.
If students or parents need help along the way or have questions, they are encouraged to contact Queens Intermediate Assistant Principal Jonette Douglas at [email protected].
