From there, she moved to Nashville to pursue her M.Ed. and taught Global Literacy and Reading Intervention while also serving as a building-level Multiclassroom Instructional Coach for Literacy in Metro Nashville Public Schools. With a desire to be closer to her family, she moved back to the Greater Birmingham area in 2015, serving as an English Language Arts teacher in Shelby County Schools. There she was named by her peers as both the school and district Teacher of the Year during the 2018-2019 school year. Additionally, she has been recognized by Shelby County Schools as the Owens-Young Memorial Technology Innovation Award recipient and by the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) as the 2018 Chiquita Marbury Technology Innovation Award recipient for exceptional creativity, leadership, and instructional excellence in the area of technology integration in the classroom. Most recently, she was a district-level Instructional Technology Coach for Jefferson County Schools where she was a proud graduate of the ALET Technology Integration Coach (ALTIC) Echo cohort.

Aside from her influence at the school and district levels, she has supported pre-service Alabama teachers through membership on the Teach for America Alabama Alumni Board and as an English Language Arts Content Specialist for 1st and 2nd year corps members throughout Alabama.

When she is not working with teachers and students on effective and innovative technology integration, she enjoys sharing at conferences such as the Alabama Conference on Grading and Assessing for Learning (ACGAL), Alabama Educational Technology Conference (AETC), and the Alabama Literacy Association. She is a Google Certified Educator (Levels 1 & 2) and Trainer, ViewSonic Education Authorized Trainer, Common Sense Educator, PowerSchool Champions Circle Council member, Kami Certified Educator (Levels 1 & 2), and Edpuzzle Coach. Her favorite hobbies include reading and traveling – preferably together! She looks forward to working with the Cherokee Bend community to integrate engaging and innovative experiences for students through the ever-evolving world of technology.
