Mrs. Carla Dudley

Carla Dudley is Cherokee Bend's assistant principal. She is an advocate for children and a veteran educator who spent the past eight years teaching fourth and fifth grade at Brookwood Forest Elementary School. Carla was awarded the district's performance award for her outstanding contribution to the school community during the 2018-2019 academic year. 

Prior to joining Mountain Brook Schools, Carla taught fourth-grade and served as a reading coach during a decorated 11-year tenure at Oak Mountain Intermediate School. Dudley was the 2010-11 Shelby County Teacher of the Year and was named the University of Montevallo Outstanding Alumnus for Teacher Leadership in 2012.

Dudley earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education, a master's degree of education (ESL) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, an additional master's degree of education in instructional leadership, and an Educational Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from the University of Montevallo.

Carla Dudley will learn, lead, and leap to new heights alongside Cherokee Bend's Tribe. 

Carla is married to Iverson Dudley, a fellow educator, and they have two children, Iverson "Austin" (13) and Carsyn Mckenleigh (5).
