Fairport Central School District

It’s almost time for one of Fairport’s favorite traditions – Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week!

This year, BH-SH will be held the week of March 13 – 17, 2023! We are breathing new life into this Fairport mainstay by opening the door to new traditions while maintaining many of the week’s much-loved events.

This year’s BH-SH Week will bring in a District-wide perspective on the theme of “SPARK your C.A.R.E.” This year’s logo was designed by FHS student Molly Giessler and is on the official BH-SH Week t-shirts that were on sale until 2/19. If you were unable to purchase a t-shirt for your student, please reach out to your student’s Main Office. Admins will have a LIMITED supply of shirts to distribute.

During Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week, students in every building and at every grade level will participate in classroom and school-wide activities highlighting the Fairport tradition of C.A.R.E. – Compassion, Awareness, Respect and Embracing differences!

Elementary school classrooms will have the opportunity to interact with a “buddy” classroom at Minerva DeLand or Fairport High School. The two classes will answer prompts and questions as a group and send them to their “buddy” class over the weeks leading up to BH-SH. The week culminates in Outreach Day on Friday, March 17, when FHS and Minerva students will visit their buddy classrooms across the District in person for a team problem-solving activity!

Middle school students at Martha Brown and Johanna Perrin will participate in guided “homebase” circles, along with guest speakers and fun lunchtime activities throughout the week!

SPIRIT DAYS

Spirit Days will be District-wide and the same in every building. Committee members developed the themes with a lens toward equity, inclusion and ease to encourage as much participation as possible!

  • Monday – Fairport gear (Fairport Family)
  • Tuesday – Comfy Clothes Day (Be Comfortable, Be You)
  • Wednesday – Act of Kindness Day (No specific clothing, but encourage students to perform acts of kindness)
  • Thursday – Students Dress as Teachers, Teachers Dress as Students
  • Friday – We’re Lucky To Be Together: Official BH-SH Week t-shirts or Wear Green

Dressing up for Spirit Days is optional, and we encourage you to have a conversation with your student about the expectation that outfits will adhere to the District’s Code of Conduct, Character and Support.

We encourage you to talk with your student(s) about the upcoming Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week events, and what they can look forward to as we celebrate the essential values of C.A.R.E.. If you have any questions, please reach out to your building administrators.
