Fairport Senior High School was named one of the top high schools in the nation by the publication, U.S. News & World Report. The publication released its high school rankings last month. Fairport was ranked #1,227 in the nation, placing it in the top 40% of schools identified by the magazine, and granting it the title of a “U.S. News Best High School”.
Fairport High School was ranked #119 in New York State High Schools, and #8 in the Rochester metro area.
“We are proud of our FHS students and staff. This recognition is emblematic of the district’s commitment to providing our students with a comprehensive program. We also recognize that this award honors and celebrates the incredible efforts and dedication of our entire school community,” said Fairport Superintendent Brett Provenzano.
“U.S. News & World Report” used data from 17,857 schools to compile its rankings. The publication says that it includes six factors in its consideration of each school. The six factors are college readiness, college curriculum breadth (AP or IB classes), reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance and graduation rate. “U.S. News & World Report” highlights in its Fairport High School report that participation in Advanced Placement classes is 55%.
