Fairport Central School District is pleased to announce that Travis Wood, the District’s instructional technology and integration coach, is among the finalists for the Rochester Museum and Science Center (RMSC) STEM Awards.
RMSC will recognize area educators and organizations making a difference and exciting the community about opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) at the RMSC STEM Awards presented by G.W. Lisk, with sponsors and supporters such as Advantage Federal Credit Union, which Fairport has a partnership with through Fairport High School. The dinner and awards ceremony is February 28 at the Strathallan Hotel.
Mr. Wood, an educator in the District since 2003, is one of two finalists for the STEM Education Award for PreK-6. He was nominated by Lauren Stucki, a third-grade teacher at Northside School.
“Travis not only inspires STEM in the classroom, but also shows students how it can be a part of their future,” Stucki said. “We were so lucky to have him at Northside School and now, with his new role as Technology Coach, he is helping students in the entire district apply and understand STEM! Reading the qualifications for this award, Travis stood out right away due to his leadership and ability to make STEM come alive in everyday learning.”
Congratulations to Mr. Wood!
