The Fairport Board of Education appointed Lyndsey Keil as its new assistant principal for both Minerva DeLand School and Fairport High School at its meeting on June 18, 2019. Keil has been with the District since 2013 serving most recently as an administrative intern and a special education teacher at the high school.
Keil assumed the position on July 1, following the departure of Jason Lehmbeck, who accepted a position as athletic director for the Clarence Central School District.
“I’m most excited about facing the new challenge of administration in a district that I truly enjoy being a part of,” said Keil. “I’m really looking forward to continue supporting the people and students that make this career so rewarding, fulfilling, and most importantly, fun.”
Keil started working for the District in February 2013 as a long-term substitute at the high school teaching social studies and then special education. Since September 2014, Keil has been a special education teacher, and during this past school year she had additional responsibilities as an administrative intern.
As assistant principal, Keil will assist Fairport High School Principal Bob Clark and Minerva DeLand Principal Pam Ciranni. Her responsibilities include coordinating and supervising the day-to-day student management procedures, working closely with teachers, mental health professionals and other school staff to support students and to address discipline matters, coordinating and supervising activities/clubs and assisting the principal with program and staff development and working with community groups.
“Lyndsey’s experience in both schools will be a tremendous asset as students transition from Minerva DeLand to Fairport High School,” said Clark and Ciranni. “We are excited to welcome her to our administrative teams.”
Keil earned her master’s degree in special education from St. John Fisher College, bachelor’s degree in history from The College at Brockport and certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from SUNY Oswego. She holds pending certifications as New York State School Building Leader and New York State School District Leader. Her professional teaching certifications are in teaching students with disabilities and social studies, both grades 7-12.
Keil and her husband, Fred, a Fairport graduate, live in Perinton with their rescue dog, Jeter.
