Fairport High School launched its official podcast, “Raider Talk,” in June 2019. The series shares the individual stories of FHS students and staff anonymously one podcast at a time.
“The goal of ‘Raider Talk’ is to meet students where they are by making FHS feel small through shared and diverse stories of struggle, hope and resilience,” said Assistant Principal Dominic Monacelli. “We are very proud of the amazing heart and soul of these student stories opening up about everyday struggles of being a teenager. Everyone can benefit from hearing their messages.”
According to Monacelli, the podcast came together through a team effort. Technology and Media Integration Specialist Tony Exton supports the “back end” technical work while FHS English Teacher Mark Lincoln hosts “Raider Talk.” So far, Class of 2019 students Zoe Christidis, Rosalie Santiago and Jake Provenzano have served as student co-hosts/guests. Additionally, Zoe served as the “voice” of various staff/student stories that were submitted anonymously.
Messages from these students include:
“Follow your passion and put yourself out there” – Rosalie Santiago
“Look out for people, it could mean the world” – Jake Provenzano
“Stay true to yourself” – Zoe Christidis
