The safety and security of Fairport Central School District students and staff is our top priority. Fairport students, staff members and community members are a crucial part of our district’s safety. Below is a recent situation where Fairport staff saw something, said something and worked together to resolve a safety concern.
A former student made unplanned visits to three of our schools this week. He was turned away multiple times by front office staff doing their due diligence to protect the safety of our campuses. This individual did gain access to a building through an alternate entrance and authorities were immediately notified. The individual was apprehended by the Fairport Police Department in the village yesterday afternoon. All unplanned visits or unwelcomed visitors are prohibited on school property.
Surveillance cameras effectively helped us get a picture of this person. Fairport main office receptionists and safety personnel recognized a potential issue and staff responded appropriately. The awareness and intentional actions of FCSD staff prompted action and helped bring closure to this event. There was diligent follow-up by thr administrative team to discuss and evaluate the circumstance. Fairport CSD’s continued strong partnership with Chief Farina, the Fairport Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office prompted swift and decisive action. Fairport CSD is in the midst of performing a thorough and critical safety audit with law enforcement professionals and this circumstance will be part of that important process.
