In an effort to gather information about high school instruction, Fairport High School is in its first year participating in the High Level Learning Walks, in which teachers visit other high school teacher’s classrooms in Rochester area school districts.
While there are many purposes for the Learning Walks, Assistant Principal Dominic Monacelli said that by visiting other classrooms, teachers are able to collaborate with area teachers for professional growth.
Participating districts other than Fairport involved in the Learning Walks include East Rochester, Penfield, Brighton, Greece and McQuaid. At each Learning Walk, teachers spend 20 minutes visiting a classroom, and afterward have brief discussions sharing observations.
