I was born in Mt.Vernon, Ohio. I graduated from high school in Ohio and moved to NC to complete my Bachelor's of Nursing degree at ECU in Greenville, NC. I worked as a nurse in the Surgical ICU in Greenville, NC. In 1987 I married and moved to Wilmington, NC.  I worked at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in the SICU. I moved to Lenoir in 1994 with my husband and two young sons. I left nursing temporarily and worked with my in-laws in the chemical recovery of industrial waste. I went back to nursing in 2006 and was part of the Child & Family Support Team at Whitnel Elementary until 2008. In 2008 I began teaching at CCC&TI in the nursing assistant program.  I started teaching the health sciences here at Hibriten Sept. 2011. I am very blessed to teach what I am passionate about.  I love nursing but I enjoy teaching the students here at HHS above all else! I am married to David Stevens and have a blended family of my two sons, two beautiful step-daughters, and 6 grandchildren at this moment!
