    Hello! My name is Mr. Jim Blanton. I graduated from Appalachian State University with degrees in Spanish and Physical Education. This will be my eighteenth year of teaching Spanish at Hibriten. I am also the Head Coach of Men's Soccer and Women's Softball.  In addition, I serve as an adviser to the the World Cultures Club (formerly known as AFS). I am excited about the new school year. As a teacher, I have high expectations of my students. Since a foreign language can be difficult at times, it is imperative that students study for at least twenty minutes every night. It can be really easy to fall behind when frequent studying does not take place. I do not give a lot of written homework, but I do give quizzes on a regular basis to check student mastery of vocabulary and/or grammar as we cover the content. Learning Spanish is a cumulative process, so the concepts we go over in the first chapter will serve as a foundation throughout the semester. If a student needs extra help or tutoring, I will be glad to help.  Since I coach two sports, I am only available for tutoring before school. Thanks for visiting our class website.
