Ms. Grasty

Hello there! This will be my 13th year teaching and I am thrilled to be a Roberta Road Raptor! I have a feeling it's going to be the best year yet!

I was born and raised in Wisconsin, then moved here shortly after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside with a K - 8 Teaching Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. Two years into my teaching career, I furthered my education by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Reading Education through UNCC. Shortly after that I also earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification in Literacy. The NBPTS is the highest professional recognition a teacher can achieve. And since I’m a learner at heart, I still continue to take classes and courses to further my teaching knowledge.

My desire is for all my students to grow academically but also have an enjoyable year where they look forward to coming to school and my class. I believe students excel when the content being taught is connected to their personal lives. Therefore, I place a large emphasis on getting to know your child as an individual and creating a classroom environment where everyone is valued and appreciated.

I primarily focus on positive behavior and reward students for it. My teaching style is more of a coach rather than a dispenser of knowledge; this means I will empower your child to become an independent learner instead of being dependent upon me for all the answers. Not only will this teaching style greatly benefit your child’s education, but it will also help them mature socially and emotionally.

I strongly feel the more we work together, the more success your child will experience. I am here for your child and I want them to succeed as much as you do. I look forward to working with your child and am confident that together we’ll have a very productive (AND FUN) school year! Therefore, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please send me a message via Remind or email. I am here to help!
