Members of the CMHS band competed in Solo and Ensemble Saturday, May 7th participating in 24 registered events. 21 of the 24 solos or ensembles earned a superior rating and the remaining 3 earned a rating of excellent.Please congratulate the Cox Mill High School Nursery Landscape Team for being the first place winner in the Nursery Landscape Career Development Event at the Regional FFA Rally. Lauren was the highest scoring individual with TJ tied for third.Our girls track team took 3rd place in the regional track meet Saturday at Mt. Pleasant!On Wednesday evening the Lady Chargers played West Iredell in the first round of state play-offs. The Chargers were victorious 3-0. Goal scorers were Maddie, Kaylee, and Mollie. The ladies played a great game and move to the next round. Cox Mill will travel to Charlotte Catholic on Friday (5/13) at 6:30. Please come out and support your Women's Soccer team this Friday!The Women's Soccer team finished the regular season at 18-3-1 overall and 13-1 in the SPC (conference champs!). We will be hosting a 1st roundplayoff game here this Wednesday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. vs. WestIredell.
Congratulations to the CMHS Band, who traveled to Disney World over the break to participate in Festival Disney. This was our first time participating in a national competition. Our band was up against groups from all over the country. Both the Concert and Marching Band earned Excellent ratings, which was the highest award given in our class. The Concert Band placed 3rd out of 5 bands (only 1.3 points away from first - very close between us and the 1st and 2nd band) and the Marching Band placed 2nd out of 4 bands. Great trip, great performances!
Monday night the Lady Chargers took on the #3 ranked West Rowan Falcons. The ladies improved their record to 16-3-1 with a 3-2 victory over the Falcons.Logan, Katie, and Paige were the scorers against West Rowan. Tuesday night we host the Central Cabarrus Vikings and Wednesday night the Trojans of Northwest Cabarrus come to Cox Mill for our senior night. Please come out and support the girls for the rest of the week as we close our regular season.
The Beta Club will be making 800 sandwiches today for the Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte. They will use this contribution to feed the homeless for one meal of the day on Wednesday. Special thanks to Ms. Kilburn and her students for boiling 400 eggs and making enough egg salad for 200 sandwiches.
April 2011This week the Varsity soccer team has won both of their games! On Monday the Chargers beat Carson High School and last night they defeated Concord High School. Last night was a special night for Jakki. she scored the first goal of her career!
Congratulations to the Lady Charger Softball team who defeated Hickory Ridge 2 - 0 yesterday. Nikki threw a 4 hit shutout and struck out 6. Jessica, Nicole, Ericka, and Amber all had hits with Amber driving in the winning runs with a triple. The softball team is home again today against Central Cabarrus with a double header. J.V. game starts at 4:30.Congratulations to Clay and Sam for being the first regional qualifiers in Men's Tennis from Cox Mill High School. They finished 2nd in the conference Thursday.Congratulations to the following 2011 Academic Booster Club Senior Scholarship Winners! Savannah H, Jonathan H, Clay P, Claude W.Wednesday, the Cox Mill girls track team took 2nd place in the conference meet. The girls had a great day taking first place in the 200m, triple jump, 4x100 and 4x200 relays, and first and second place in the 100m, and long jump. In addition, Tori E was name girls athlete of the meet and Ameenah was named Field Athlete of the Year!Congratulations to Ryan for winning the 100 meter dash at the SPC conference meet Wednesday. Another congrats goes to the 4X200 relay team who also took first place consisting of TJ, Ike, Parker and Ryan. Great job men.Monday was the end of the Regular Season for Mens Golf. In an 18 hole Championship Tournament, the Cox Mill Men finished 2nd. They also finished second in the Regular Season. Selections for All-Conference were completed and the Cox Mill Men had four make the All-Conference Team. They are: Eric, Garrett, Brandon, and Justin. We have one non-conference match on April 19 and then the Regional Golf Tournament on May 2nd. Those going on will play at the State Tournament on May 8th and 9th. Congratulations for a great season!
The Lady Charger softball team beat A.L. Brown yesterday in 5 innings 10 - 0. The Lady Chargers were lead by the pitching of Nikki F who struck out 5 and walked none. And by the hitting of Kaitlyn H who went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and a run batted in. Nicole S, Nikki F, and Brooke H also had runs batted in. The Lady Chargers next play at Concord on Tuesday.
The Cox Mill High School Small Ensemble earned a Superior rating (the highest possible) at the West #1 Solo/Small Ensemble MPA Festival today!!!! Our men’s trio (consisting of JT, Michael, and Aaron) earned a Superior rating as well. We’re very excited since these are the first Superior ratings for our relatively new choral program.The Lady Chargers returned to their winning ways yesterday with a 3 - 2, 8 inning victory over conference foe Mt. Pleasant. Brooke H had a outstanding ball game including a solo home run that turned out to be the game winner. The Lady Chargers are 8 - 2 overall and 5 - 2 in conference play. The softball team plays home today Thursday at 6 pm against A. L. Brown.March 2011
The boy's track team took 1st place at the Mount Pleasant Invitational Saturday. 13 local teams were in competion. The boys 4x200 team placed first. The girl's track team had a very strong day as well. Taking 1st place in the triple jump, 100 meter, 4x100 and the 4x200.
Congratulations to the baseball team for completing their sweep of AL Brown last Friday with a 8-6 Victory at home. The Chargers were led by 6 strong innings from DJ Smith to earn the win. Offensively, the Chargers were led by Martin G who was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Travis W who was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and an RBI and Marshall K who was 2 for 4 with an RBI and 2 stolen bases. The Chargers are back in action Tuesday at 4:30pm vs. Concord at home....come out and support your Chargers Baseball team!Congrats to the Spirit of Cox Mill Symphonic Band. They traveled to North Lincoln High School last weekend to compete in the State Level Music Performance Assessment. The band earned a SUPERIOR rating which is the highest rating that is given at the festival. Great job band!The Lady Chargers beat the Lady Cougars of Hough H.S. 3 to 0 yesterday in a non-conference match-up. Nikki F was the winning pitcher. The Lady Chargers played well on both offense and defense. This brings their record to 7 - 0 overall and 3 - 0 in conference. The Lady Chargers will travel to Central Cabarrus Friday for a conference double header. The varsity plays at 4:30 and the J.V. will play at 6:00pm.
The men's tennis team defeated Central Cabarrus yesterday 8-1. The Chargers received wins from Clay P, Sam X, Vibhav K, Jeffrey C, Zach J, and Tristan M.Come out and support the tennis team as they play at Northwest on Wednesday.The Lady Chargers beat Concord Friday night by a score of 7 to 1. It was a great team victory with everyone contributing offensively and defensively. Nikki F pitched well and Amber F caught two Spider players trying to steal. The team played very well. The Lady Chargers are again in action Tuesday against J.M. Robinson here at Cox Mill. Both the varsity and J.V. teams will be playing and the games start at 4:30.Last Thursday CMHS hosted their first track meet against Concord, Central and Northwest. It was a great meet, with our boys taking 3rd and our girls taking 1st! We will be traveling to JM Robinson this Thursday to compete against JM, Hickory Ridge and Central.On Wednesday, the men's golf team had its strongest outing of the year. Currently in 2nd place in the conference they gave leader JM Robinson a run for the daily title. The match was played at Rocky River Golf Club on the front nine. Leading the team was Brandon C''s two over par 37 (which tied for third for low round), Team Captain Eric B continued his steady play shooting another 3 over par 39, followed by Garret R's 4 over par 40 and Justin W's 5 over par 41. Also playing in the match were Austin A and John Marston. Member of the team not playing today include: Bryce G, Andrew L, Jake P, Chase P, Casey S and Tyler U.The team has finished second in all four matches so far this season. We have three full matches still ahead and one to complete before the Conference Tournament on April 11th. As it stands right now the team will be headed back to the Regional Tournament with sites set on qualifying for State.The Lady Chargers Softball team won their first conference game against A.L. Brown yesterday 11 - 1. They were led by the hitting of Nicole S who went 3 for 4 as well as Kristen S and Ericka D who were both 2 for 5. Nikki F was the winning pitcher, giving up only 1 run while striking out 6 batters. The Chargers are home on Friday against Concord. Game time is 6:30.

In total Cox Mill High helped WYMA raise 460 jeans! Congratulations to Ms. Yow's class for raising the largest number of jeans and thank you to all of those who donated.
Congratulations to Sam X for finishing first in the state chess tournament last weekend and in the team chess championships. Sam also finished second in the state at speed chess.The Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that Logan A & Taylor W have been selected as the CMHS Nominees for the Robert C. Byrd Scholarship. This scholarship is worth $1500. In order to compete for this scholarship, students had to have a minimum 3.5 GPA and minimum 1875 on their SATs. Please join us in congratulating Logan and Taylor and wishing them luck as they move to the state level of this scholarship competition!Congratulations to Taylor P, Kyle O, Jon H, Tanner S, and TJ H for qualifying and competing in the regional wrestling tournament this past weekend at Mt. Pleasant. A big congratulations to Jon H for placing 4th, qualifying for the state tournament next weekend in Greensboro, and earning his 100th career victory during the regional competition.January 2011

Congratulations to Jon H. He has finished the regular wrestling season undefeated.Last year Cox Mill had 6 student representatives in the Cabarrus All County Band. This year the band has 24 students representing Cox Mill HS in the Cabarrus All-County Band. The Concert is Saturday, Feb. 19th at 1 p.m. (Jay M. Robinson High School Auditorium - Concert is free to public.) All of them are always so very polite when they come to the office to ask permission to go outside, get the football field opened, or whatever it is they need. It’s always a pleasure to see how mature they act and how well behaved they are.
Second,all of the CMHS students who come in the office for different reasons throughout the day are always nice, polite and well behaved. If the counter is crowded and they have to wait for me, they’re patient about that as well. I truly believe we have the best bunch of students in the county!!!
Mr. Earp would like to spotlight the following students:January 8th, 9 Cox Mill High School students auditioned for All-District Band along with roughly 1100 other high school band students from the south central area of North Carolina. 3 of the 9 made it into the group with 2 of those 3 being eligible to audition for all state band. Congratulations to the following students:

Congratulations to Steven R. who auditioned for All Region Jazz Band and making the top band on guitar. He also placed high enough to audition for All State Jazz Band. The state only allows one guitar from each region band to audition for state.

The "Spirit of Cox Mill" Marching Band placed 2nd in Class at the Mount Pleasant Showcase of Champions and 1st in Class at the Central Cabarrus Cavalcade of Bands and taking 1st and 2nd place awards in all captains earning the band 13 trophies total.
