Miss Ericka Patterson

Welcome! My name is Miss Patterson and this is my first year at Concord High School. I am excited to be part of the art program and I cannot wait to see what you can do in the studio. Please know, just like any other skill, you CAN LEARN how to draw, paint, sculpt, and make. These are not simply inherit skills. These skills are learned just like math, sports, games, reading, etc. and they are learned in a multitude of avenues. These skills do not just make a pretty picture but they are transferrable...we will learn how to creatively problem solve, learn how we perceive the world, how to navigate what we see, what we want to see, and how to accomplish those/our goals (learning is flexible and change is always welcome). As an educator I am here to meet you at your level and support you while you thrive. That stands true whether the subject is art or any other intrigue you feel passionate about or need help with. I strive to teach the whole you...my medium just so happens to be the Visual Arts.

I am from Albuquerque, NM...I have travelled and explored during my early adulthood and have found myself living in NC for the last 3 years. I have a B.F.A. in Painting and Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute (2015) and a Graduate Certificate in K-12 Art Education from UNCC (2021).

Please see below for the Syllabus, Grading Policy, and Unit Outlines

My door is always open, my classroom is a safe space. Go Spiders!
