Unit 8: Growth Patterns (Week 35, 5 Weeks)

Unit 8:  Growth Patterns (Patterns, Functions and Change)

A.  Students will use tables to represent change

B.  Students will use graphs to represent change

  • Identify points in a graph with corresponding values in a table and interpreting the numerical information in terms of the situation the graph represents (K)
  • Describe the relative steepness of graphs or parts of graphs in terms of different rates of change(K)

C.  Students will describe and represent situations with a constant rate of change

  • Describe the relationship between two quantities in a situation with a constant rate of change, taking into account a beginning amount and a constant increase (or decrease) (K)

D.  Students will describe and represent situations in which the rate of change is not constant

  • Describe a situation in which the rate of change is not constant but can be determined (K)
  • Describe how a graph represents a situation in which the rate of change is not constant (K)

E.  Students will effectively communicate through oral and written language (D)
