Mrs. Smith

My name is Natalie Smith and getting to know new people, languages and customs in order to make connections with others is important to my personal and professional growth. At MSU, I served as an Orientation Leader and Road Runner and majored in International Business to accomplish these goals. Studying at the University of Zaragoza in Spain gave me the opportunity to live and interact with people from a distinctly new culture. That experience sparked a fascination with language acquisition and a love of travel that led me to learn new ways of living and celebrating life from around the world.  I met an Alabama boy on my travels who encouraged me to go into education and get my masters in Elementary Education from William Carey University.  After my travel experiences, I felt I had an understanding of the world, but having a child of my own expanded my heart and world view to new dimensions.

In my English Learners classroom, I teach respect; respect of self, respect for others, and respect for our world.  Everyone in our class has a purpose and a place. I believe that education is a key component to making our world a better place. My goal in our classroom is to inspire students to achieve their goals, expand their knowledge and understanding of our world and let each child know that they are valued and loved.  I am honored to get to know your child as we share valuable information and achieve our goal of utilizing the English language to read, write, listen, sing and act to reach our academic goals while maintaining and honoring our own unique culture together.
