Rio School District is planning on returning to a regular schedule for the fall beginning the first day of school, August 25, 2021.
However, new legislation is in effect for the 2021-2022 school year for parents to enroll their child in an independent study program if they believe that their child’s health may be impacted if they return to in-person instruction. The independent study program will have daily direct instruction with a credentialed teacher for at least three hours daily.
In order to hire teachers for the independent study program, the district is requesting that you complete this survey for each child enrolled in the district. Your request for the independent study program does not obligate you to enroll your child at this time, but please do not check yes unless you are seriously considering independent study for your child.
An individualized education plan meeting must be held for any students receiving special education services prior to placement in an independent study program.
