SCHEDULE CHANGES

SCHEDULE CHANGES

Schedule changes that affect your child’s attendance may be made by calling the Child Development office at 327-9160.  Schedule changes are due by the 20th of each month for the proceeding month (Exception: August schedule changes due by August 10th, January schedule changes by December 15th).  Reminders of schedule change dates are printed on your monthly bill.

MINIMUM HOURS REQUIRED

MINIMUM HOURS REQUIRED

Fee-Based Services: Your child must be contracted for a minimum number of sessions equal to 6 hours per week.  The Early Release Wednesdays is allowed to be a stand alone program (if combined with any other program you must meet the 6 hour per week minimum).

Fee-Waiver Services (ELOP): Your child must attend at least 3 days per week of the program selected. For example, if you would like to attend before school program, you must attend at least 3 days in the morning. If you would also like to attend after school program, you would need to attend at least 3 days in the after school program as well. Additionally, students enrolled in the after school program should remain in program until at least 4PM. This is to allow students to fully participate in the program components.

LATE PICK UP

LATE PICK-UP

Fee-Based Services: Parents picking up children beyond program end times will be charged a late pick-up fee. The charges will appear on your next month’s statement. Please see "Fees" page for a detail of charges. Please keep in mind that eight (8) late pick-ups can result in your child’s dismissal from the Expanded Learning Program.

Fee-Waiver Services: Late fees are not charged if your child has a fee-waiver.  Due to this, the number of late pick-ups allowed prior to removal from program is limited to five (5) for the school year. In addition, one (1) late pick-up over 30 minutes will be considered the equivalent of two (2) late pick-ups for the year.

If your child is not picked up within 30 minutes after closing time, it will result in notifying Child Protective Services or local authorities and asking them to pick up your child.

TERMINATION OF SERVICES

TERMINATION OF SERVICES

Enrollment in Expanded Learning Programs (Campus Club / ELOP) is a privilege. Therefore, adherence to the regulations in the Expanded Learning Parent Handbook and Application/Contract is mandatory. Services may be terminated at any time for the following reasons:
  1. Eight (8) late pick-ups in one school year for fee-based services or five (5) late pick-ups in one school year for fee-waived services.
  2. Allowing 30 days to pass without making payment in full.
  3. Disruptive behavior (see #11 on the backside of your contract/application).
  4. Failure to notify the Expanded Learning site of non-attendance.
  5. Abuse of services (i.e., failure to sign in and/or out) or unscheduled attendance.
  6. Low program enrollment.
If you wish to terminate services for your child, a one (1) week notice is required. You must call our office at 327-9160. You are liable for any monies due on your child’s account.

NON-ATTENDANCE

NON-ATTENDANCE

DRESS CODE

DRESS CODE

The dress code established by the CUSD for all students, applies to students participating in Expanded Learning Programs.

KEEPING YOUR CHILD SAFE

KEEPING YOUR CHILD SAFE

The safety of your child is our primary goal. The following is an outline of the Expanded Learning Programs (Campus Club / ELOP) accountability system:
  • All students are checked in by Expanded Learning Staff upon arrival. An authorized adult must sign the student out when the student leaves the Expanded Learning Program.
  • All absences must be verified by the school attendance office or an authorized adult. If your child will not be attending the Expanded Learning Program for any reason, please call the Expanded Learning portable to report the absence. Failure to do so may result in a $25.00 missing child search fee.   A child attending any other after school program must have a verified absence by an authorized adult. If the absence cannot be verified, it may result in a report to the local authorities as a “missing child”.
  • Please have identification ready upon pick-up of your student. Your child will not be released to any adult not included on the Expanded Learning application. It must be in writing and authorized by the enrolling parent.
  • Students are only authorized to sign in or out if a Release of Liability form is completed by the enrolling parent. This form is also used if any older sibling (under 18) is picking up the student from the Expanded Learning Program.
  • Please make sure that your Expanded Learning Program school site always has your correct address and telephone numbers. You may update your information at any time at the site with a “site change form”. Just ask a Expanded Learning staff member for the form.
  • Expanded Learning staff supervises students at all times, including transitions from one area or portable to another.
  • Expanded Learning staff maintains safety headcounts of the students in program every twenty minutes.

ILLNESS

ILLNESS

Children who are ill cannot be accepted into Expanded Learning Programs. Should a child have a health concern, he/she will be secluded and the parents will be immediately notified to promptly pick up the child (not to exceed 30 minutes). Please notify us at once if your child has a communicable disease. The following guidelines will be used to determine if your child will be excluded from program due to illness.
  • A fever of one hundred (100) degrees, or has had one in the past 24 hours.
  • A constant cough, wheezing, nasal discharge, sneezing, vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Symptoms of a communicable condition.

MEDICATION

MEDICATION

A student is not allowed to carry medication with him/her on the school grounds. Expanded Learning personnel are not permitted to administer medication to children. All medication must be dispensed by the school office prior to coming to Expanded Learning. Students who need inhalers need to follow the protocol set up by CUSD. During full-day programs only trained personnel are allowed to administer medicine.

INJURIES

INJURIES

The staff makes every effort to insure the safety of your child. Unfortunately, minor accidents may occur. If your child is injured, first-aid procedures will be followed. In the case of serious accidental injury, we will make every attempt to contact you and 911 will be called when appropriate.

CUSD DISCIPLINE

CUSD DISCIPLINE

As a student in CUSD and a member of Expanded Learning, your child has certain responsibilities. Your student will be held accountable for the choices he/she makes in their behavior while at these programs. Expanded Learning adheres to the CUSD discipline which is a zero tolerance policy.

In order for Expanded Learning to be a place that is enjoyable for everyone, and for your student to get the most of his/her experience while they are there, it is important for your student to understand and accept the following personal responsibilities:
  • Be on time and report to Expanded Learning immediately after school.
  • Be responsible to clean up after yourself.
  • Follow all the rules.
  • Respect other people and their property.
  • But most of all, respect yourself. If you respect yourself, the rest will be easy.

IN SUPPORT OF THE PARENT

IN SUPPORT OF THE PARENT

We are always interested in your comments regarding the Expanded Learning programs and have an “open-door” policy.  A parent communication area is established to post important information regarding your child and the Expanded Learning Program.  The on-site staff will be able to help you with specific site concerns.  All program concerns should be reported in the following order:
  • Lead Instructor (on site).
  • Program Supervisor (Child Development Office).
  • Coordinator of Campus Club (fee-based services) or ELOP (fee-waiver services) (Child Development Office).
  • Director of Child Development (Child Development Office).

CIVILITY POLICY

CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES

All Expanded Learning staff are child-care custodians and are mandated reporters inclusive of public school employees.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS FROM HOME

PERSONAL BELONGINGS FROM HOME

Expanded Learning Programs provides a variety of recreational and enriching activities.  If an item is used for “sharing” during the school day, the student must keep the item in his/her backpack while at Expanded Learning. Children are asked to not bring toys or games from home unless prior permission is given by site staff.

Cell Phones: The cell phone policy established by the CUSD Board of Trustees for all students applies to students participating in Expanded Learning Programs. Children are allowed to keep cell phones in their backpacks turned off while at Expanded Learning.

Expanded Learning is not responsible for damaged or stolen personal items.
