FOGGY DAY INFORMATION

The Fresno County Schools Office and most school districts in Fresno County are again cooperating in reporting “Foggy Day” school bus schedules. During the 2023-24 school year, the following procedures will be used on extremely foggy days:

A decision will be made no later than 6:00 a.m. as to whether or not the departure time of buses must be delayed.
If departure times of school buses must be delayed, an announcement will be made on KVPT (TV) Channel18 and KMJ 580 AM radio starting no later than 6:15 a.m. There will be continuous broadcasting on these channels.
If buses within the district are delayed, the word “Schedule A” or “Schedule B” will appear after the name of the district.
“Schedule A” means buses will be delayed two (2) hours and “Schedule B” means buses will be delayed four (4) hours. If fog conditions require that “Schedule B” is necessary, all transportation for morning kindergarten classes will be cancelled.
All classes in the district will operate as per their regular schedule. Foggy day instructions apply only to bus transportation schedules and riders.

Students who walk or have their own transportation to school should arrive at their normal time; however, parents are advised to exercise discretion relative to particular conditions in and around their respective school attendance areas. Unless an additional announcement is made, afternoon bus and athletic runs will operate on a regular schedule.

Please realize that foggy days are called on a Districtwide basis and, due to the size of the district (199 square miles), not all areas in the district have the same fog density. Therefore, while it may or may not be foggy in your particular area, the decision to delay school is made in the best interest of the students Districtwide.

We request that you do not call the schools, the district office or the transportation department on foggy days. It is important that these telephone lines be kept open for bus driver reports and other emergency calls.

Hopefully, the above procedures will not have to be implemented during the upcoming foggy season. If a foggy day schedule must be called, your cooperation is sincerely appreciated.

Las Oficinas Escolares del Condado de Fresno y la mayoría de los distritos escolares en el Condado de Fresno están cooperando otra vez reportando el horario de autobús durante el “Día con Neblina” (“Foggy Day”). Durante el año escolar 2021-22 los siguientes procedimientos se usarán en el Distrito Escolar de Clovis durante los días con mucha neblina.

Se tomará una decisión antes de las 6:00 a.m. para ver si la hora en que salen los camiones escolares deberá ser atrasada.
Si la hora de salida de los autobuses escolares se atrasa, se hará un anuncio por la estación de Radio KMJ 580 AM, KMPH 107.5 FM, y por la televisión KVPT-TV Canal 18 a no más tardar de las 6:15 a.m. La información será transmitida continuamente en estos canales.
Si la hora de los autobuses dentro del Distrito es atrasada, la palabra “Schedule A” (“Horario A”) o “Schedule B” (Horario B”) aparecerá en la pantalla después del nombre del distrito.
“Schedule A” quiere decir que el autobús se atrasará por dos (2) horas. “Schedule B” quiere decir que el autobús se atrasará por cuatro (4) horas. Si la neblina causa que el “Schedule B” se ponga en efecto, entonces toda la transportación que recoge a los niños de Kinder en la mañana será cancelada.
Todas las clases en el distrito se llevaran a cabo a la hora de costumbre. Las instrucciones para el dia con neblina (“foggy day”) se aplican solo al horario de los autobuses escolares y a sus pasajeros.

Los estudiantes que caminan a la escuela o que tengan su propia transportación deberán de llegar a la escuela a la hora de costumbre. Sin embargo, se recomienda a los padres que usen prudencia en lo relacionado a las condiciones particulares dentro y alrededor de las áreas escolares en donde sus niños asisten. Mientras ninguna otra cosa se anuncie, las rutas de la tarde y las rutas para los deportes se llevarán a cabo a la hora acostumbrada.

Fígese, por favor que los horarios de día con neblina se pondrán en efecto en todo el Distrito, y debido a lo grande que es el Distrito, 199 millas cuadradas, no todas las áreas en el Distrito tendrán la misma densidad de neblina. De manera, que puede ser que su área tenga neblina o no, la decisión de atrasar la hora de entrada a la escuela se basa con el mejor interés de todos los estudiantes del Distrito.

Les pedimos que NO llamen a las escuelas, ni a las Oficinas del Distrito, ni al Departamento de Transportación durante los días con neblina. Es muy importante que estas líneas teléfonicas se mantengan abiertas para que los conductores de autobuses se reporten y para otras llamadas de emergencia.

Esperamos que los procedimientos ya explicados no se tengan que implementar durante la temporada de días con niebla. Si acaso se tiene que llevar a cabo el horario de “Día con Neblina” su cooperación será sinceramente agradecida.
