Class Expectations:
In Civics Literacy, students can expect to learn about the foundations of the American government, citizenship and the rights of everyone within the country. This is a course where students will not just learn the material; they will be applying it on work and in their real lives. In this class you will truly use what you learn. By the end of the course, students will understand how government and politics run and also know what rights they have as citizens. In my classroom, I look forward to creating passionate, knowledgeable and caring members of our community.
My Biography:
I was born and raised in rural, northwest Ohio. After graduating high school, I went to The Ohio State University(Go Bucks!), where I got my Bachelor's in Integrated Social Studies. Once I finished undergrad, I left for Boston and completed my Master's degree in Teaching at Simmons University. In Boston, I did my student teaching and a year of substitute teaching at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. In 2011, I moved to North Carolina and began teaching with Cabarrus County Schools. I live in Charlotte with my wife Jenn, and our dogs Lily, Prim and Chip. I am looking forward to my first year at West Cabarrus High School and can't wait to become part of the community!
