Mrs. Kate Hicks

Welcome to 1st grade!  I am very excited to be your child's first grade teacher. This will be my 12th year teaching elementary school and my 5th year at Patriots STEM Elementary School.  My husband and I have two girls.  Ava is in 6th grade and Aubrey is in 4th grade here at Patriots.  We also have two dogs.  Piper is our 7 year old border collie/lab mix and Fergus is our westie puppy.  He is now 8 months old.  It can get pretty crazy in our house from time to time.  I graduated from UNCC with my masters in elementary education.  Teaching is truly a passion of mine and I can't wait to get to know your child and family.

Our classroom is a happy, positive environment where students want to come learn.  I strive for us to connect and build relationships that feel more like a family than just a classroom.  I can't wait to start this learning adventure with your child and see how much he/she learns this year.  Our classroom theme is "Happy Campers" and I look forward to us all learning together real soon!

My favorite places to shop are Target and Amazon.

I love to eat at Chick Fil A.

My favorite treats are Coke Zero and anything chocolate.

My hobbies include anything outdoors with my family (hiking, swimming, walking our dog, and riding bikes).

I also love running for exercise.
