CCS Names Teacher of the Year
CCS Names Teacher of the Year 05/15/2020
Emily Wagoner, 3rd grade teacher at R. Brown McAllister Elementary School, was named Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) Teacher of the Year on Friday, May 15, 2020 with a surprise announcement at her home.
Wagoner began her teaching career with CCS in 2014 as a 3rd grade teacher at Winecoff Elementary School. She joined the R. Brown McAllister Elementary School faculty in 2019.
Wagoner earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and exceptional children general curriculum from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) and was recently selected to participate in an administrative leadership cohort for a Master’s degree in school administration through UNCC.
In addition, Wagoner has completed the Gifted Local Endorsement for Educators and has completed the Cabarrus County Schools Teacher Leaders Program. As a strong teacher leader, Wagoner has served in a variety of roles. These include School Improvement Team Member, Grade Level Chair, Professional Learning Community Leader, MTSS Goal Team Facilitator, Curriculum Writing Team member, Teaching Learning Team member, Peer Observer, Beginning Teacher Mentor, CCS Literacy Framework Professional Development Facilitator and Clinical Educator for Student Teachers.
In the past, Wagoner was named Hilbish Ford Teacher of the Month and Staff Member of the Month. In addition, she has been a Teacher of the Year school nominee twice prior to being selected this year.
According to Principal Blanchard, “Wagoner is both a leader within her classroom and throughout R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary School. Her focus on excellence and attitude of high standards are contagious to all that are around her. There is no limit to her giving as her eagerness for student success is shown in everything that she does. She makes learning fun and exciting. She believes in her students and celebrates their successes. She pushes them to their full potential and would literally move mountains for them. She is dedicated, hardworking, passionate and humble. Her commitment to her students is truly outstanding. R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary School is a better place because Emily Wagoner as a part of it."
