Alicia Schoonmaker

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

I am the School Social Worker for CC Griffin Middle School and Patirots STEM Elementary School.  As a School Social Worker, my goal is to help students overcome difficult situations in order to reach their full academic and social potential.  I am available to work with students and families to provide a variety of services, some of which include referrals to community resources, attendance monitoring/intervention, crisis intervention, individual/group counseling, family outreach, and McKinney-Vento/homeless education support.

I am originally from central Illinois where I obtained my Masters in Social Work from Illinois State University. Prior to relocating to North Carolina, I served as a School Social Worker for three years in Illinois and also served as a Case Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters for five years.  My passion is to help students and families overcome barriers in order to reach their full potential.
