Articles of the week essentially teach students skills needed for the common core standards (close reading, annotating, responding to text dependent questions, summarization, writing arguments, citing evidence, etc.).
Students practice and develop skills all year long that help them not only in language arts, but all other content areas.
These skills will be supported and built upon in the next grade level.
Students are reading informative/expository text that not only help them develop as readers, but also educates them about the world we live in.
The tasks student must complete with the AoW support SBAC.
