Today I had the great opportunity to visit the culmination of a great learning project at Rio Vista Middle School. 6th grade teachers and students worked hard and long learning about earthquakes.
They then set out in S.T.E.A.M. teams to construct skyscrapers that could resist a major earthquake on the earthquake simulator that was constructed for the task. Levels of engagement and learning were through the roof and every building in the final contest withstood the shaking and looked good doing it. The diversity of size and shape was phenomenal. This is Inquiry and project based learning at its finest. I say Bravo to these teachers and these students. This is where Rio is headed and you are leading the way.
