The Rio School District and the Oxnard Union High School District have purchase a new building for joint use District Administrative Office. The new District office building is a 3 story, 115,612 square foot office building, on a 7.67 acre lot which was formerly occupied by Verizon.
It’s a move that will consolidate most of the Rio District’s operations in a building better suited for District and community needs.
The new District office will be located at 1800 Solar Drive, the building sits on about 7.67 acres of land and was built in 1990. The Rio School District will occupy the third floor of the three story building with Oxnard Union High School District occuping the first and second floors. The districts will share certain common areas such as conference centers and other meeting and learning spaces. The new location has ample parking for employees and visitors which is a significant improvement to the current site.
“This building will better serve our community,” Dr. Puglisi said. “ Plans are developing to increase the quality of collaboration with the high school district.”
District leaders explored the possibility of constructing a new building for its purposes, but the idea of a joint use district office was both economical and an opportunity each District valued. Rio is in the process of making improvements to third floor and is opening its new doors on January 2, 2020.
