Teacher Spotlight: From Kindergarten to Counseling, Congratulations, Mrs. Hendershott!
It's Teacher Feature time! Our Putnam County Journalism class has been working to give insights on our staff members. Next up is Mrs. Hendershott. Here's what the journalism class and Mrs. Hendershott had to say in their interview.
Mrs. Hendershott, formerly known as Miss Shipley, loves 90’s country, autumn, and playing and coaching sports. In high school, she played basketball and softball and loved the dress-up days that came with it. Her favorite days would be the 80’s dress-up day, or when she dressed up as Belle from Beauty and the Beast for her Senior Homecoming. She says that she wasn’t really associated with just one friend group, but tried to be friendly with everyone.
As a child, she loved her Grandma Dorothy's spaghetti and meatballs and frolicking with her bottle calves and kittens. Her biggest fear as a kid was tornadoes, but she had her mom to comfort her. Her mom, Mitzi, is her role model and biggest fan. One thing you might not know is that if Mrs. Hendershott was not a teacher and soon-to-be counselor, she would have loved to become a lawyer.
Mrs. Hendershott has been teaching Kindergarten at PC since 2021 and says, "I am a firm believer that there are no peaks in education and there is always learning to be gained."
Thanks for all you do, Mrs. Hendershott! We are #PutnamProud of you!
